Cancelling Your Travel Insurance Cover if Trip is Cancelled

Learn how to cancel travel insurance with Trippers Shield LLP if your trip is cancelled, covering benefits, review periods, and policy conditions to ensure you avoid financial losses.

Wave Off the Disappointment of a Cancelled Trip

Life is unpredictable, and your much-anticipated trip can be disrupted by unforeseen events. With Trippers Shield travel insurance, you can mitigate the financial and emotional stress of trip cancellations through our carefully crafted cancellation benefits.

What is Travel Insurance?

Travel insurance provides coverage against unexpected events such as medical emergencies, flight accidents, lost baggage, changes in schedule, trip cancellations, or other travel-related losses. At Trippers Shield LLP, we ensure our plans cater to your domestic and international travel needs, offering you peace of mind throughout your journey.

What Happens When You Cancel Your Travel Insurance for a Cancelled Trip?

At Trippers Shield LLP, we understand cancellations are sometimes unavoidable. You may cancel your travel insurance policy under specific conditions, provided:

  • You cancel the policy before the departure date.
  • You have not filed any claims under the policy.
  • The cancellation falls within the review period specified in your policy document.

Every insurer has unique review period policies. With Trippers Shield LLP, it is important to thoroughly read your policy documents to understand the terms, including the cancellation and refund provisions.

Conditions for Cancellation Benefits

You may be eligible for a refund of the premium if your trip is cancelled due to any of the following circumstances:

  • Visa Rejection: If your visa application is denied, you can cancel your policy and receive a refund of the premium, subject to our terms.
  • Unforeseen Emergencies: Includes emergencies at home or work, the sudden death of a family member, natural calamities, volatile weather conditions, political instability, or terrorist activity at the destination.
  • Medical Grounds: A sudden medical emergency of the insured or their immediate family member preventing travel.
  • Other Travel Insurance Conflicts: If multiple policies are purchased, the latter policy will be cancelled, ensuring only one active policy remains.

Non-Cancellable Policies

Trippers Shield LLP does not offer cancellations or refunds in the following cases:

  • Voluntary Trip Denial: If the traveller decides not to travel for personal reasons unrelated to emergencies, the policy cannot be cancelled.
  • Travel Already Commenced: Once the journey begins, cancellation is no longer an option.
  • Invalid Claims or Lack of Proof: Refunds require valid documentation (e.g., visa rejection letter, medical certificate). Failure to provide proof nullifies cancellation requests.

How to Cancel Your Policy?

If you meet the cancellation criteria and have valid documentation, follow these steps:

  • Submit Proof: Provide evidence such as a visa rejection letter, proof of emergency, or a passport copy showing no travel was undertaken.
  • Cancellation requests must be submitted no later than one day prior to the trip’s scheduled start date. For example, if the trip is set to begin on 15th February, and the policy was purchased earlier (e.g., on 15th January or any prior date), the policy can only be cancelled up to 14th February. No cancellations will be accepted on or after the trip start date.
  • Pay Nominal Fees: A small processing fee (including service tax) will be charged, which varies depending on the policy and insurer.
